Hello and aaniin. If you arrived here from either my X post or blurb in the Surrey Now-Leader then welcome. As mentioned here's a rehash of the 7 Grandfather Teachings and what they mean to me.
Love, represented by the eagle. To me means unconditional affection for all of creation. I use this lots. I love my wife and children. I love art and music. As a guiding principal I could simply ask if the policy demonstrates love then I would feel compelled to approve.
Respect, represented by the buffalo. To me means courteous consideration. I recenly attended AniRevo in Vancouver and it came up in regards to my interaction with someone who was cosplaying a character I like from the game Genshin Impact. I asked if I could take a picture and they hesitated but agreed after I explained I would likely use the picture as a reference for some artwork. Some time afterward I thought about it and decided perhaps it would be prudent to simply delete the picture as a act of respect for that person's privacy. After all I could get plenty of reference pictures in game. As a guiding principal I could try my best to approach people in the same courteous manner.
Wisdom, represented by the beaver. To me means to cherish knowledge and or intelligence. I use this from time to time. Where I work it is essential to troubleshooting. If I'm testing a circut and some aspect isn't working, the knowledge of how the circuit works enables me to find where faults are. I can then direct efforts to correct them. As a guiding principal I would do my best to learn about what is presented before making descisions.
Bravery, represented by the bear. To me means to stand without fear and face challenges head on. I am not ashamed to admit I sometimes struggle with this. But somehow when it becomes necessary I will do the best I can to summon the courage and do what needs to be done.
Humility, repesented by the wolf. To me means equality. If anything I sometimes feel lower than everyone else. My hope is that if elected then perhaps my attitude will change to that of attaining a level playing field. As a guiding principal it would mean approching things with the attitude of balance and equity.
Honesty, represented by the raven. To me means righteousness. I try to act and speak with this all the time. If given a choice, pick what is correct and if asked to speak then say what is true.
Truth, represented by the turtle. To me means giving an account of events in a way that prevents deception. From my point of view it goes hand in hand with honesty. One source puts this as only speaking to the extent we have lived or experinced. As an aside, in electronics we sometimes use logic or truth tables. For a given function the table defines the truth. As a guiding principal I'd simply tell the truth whenever something is asked of me.
